Tankless water heaters can be vented in two ways.

The rinnai hydronic air handler systems connects seamlessly to select rinnai tankless water heaters to deliver efficient home heating and domestic hot water simultaneously in one complete system. The manufacturer seems to be ok with either approach. It is held together with 4 screws. Do i have to run an intake pipe direct to outside would require ripping out ceiling.

However it would seem it would get plenty of combustible air from the room and i would likely never get a negative pressure situation because of the fresh air intake they put when the house was built.

Because average water supply inlet temperature varies by location the ideal tankless water heater in the south might not work at all in the north. Direct vent units pull in air from outside the house so they have two vents for intake and exhaust.
